Lathmar Holi, Barsana

Lathmar HoliLath (stick) mar (beating): A festival of playful beating with color and fun.

As per mythology, Lord Krishna visited Barsana with his friends (Gwalas) and his beloved Radha along with her friends (Gopis) chased the men away with sticks. On Lathmar Holi, the people of Barsana follow the same legend where women chase the men of Nandgaon with playful beating and colors.

Men and women from all age groups participate in this celebration playing the parts of gwalas and  gopis.
